On your first visit you will meet our friendly team.
We will ask you about your previous tanning experience and gain a few quick details from you, and discuss your tanning goals.
We will assess your skin type and your current stage of tan development, advising you on session lengths and answering any questions you may have before creating your individual Tanning Lounge account.
We have lay-down and stand-up tanning beds, and once we have set up your account on your initial visit you will have a personal one-on-one tour and demonstration by one of our friendly team.
The beds are very easy to control, and to keep it simple all our lay-down beds are the same premium Ergoline models and have the same operations, as do all our premium Tecnosole stand-up beds.
Operations such as controlling the cooling ventilation fans, facial tanning and Bluetooth options will all be explained...
And don't worry, we all forget... so if on your next visit you've forgotten any of the controls, our friendly team are on hand.
There is no need to book sessions at The Tanning Lounge, as we offer a walk-in service on all our beds and tanning sessions.
You can choose to 'pay-as-you-go' paying for your individual session minutes for an individual tanning session...
Or
You can purchase course packages (20, 50 or 100 minutes) that will be stored securely on your account to be used over numerous tanning session visits.
And don't worry, our course packages have NO EXPIRY DATE on them, so once you have paid for a package it is yours until the minutes have been used up.
We take extreme pride in the cleanliness of our beds and overall environment.
A member of the Tanning Lounge team will clean and sanitise EVERY BED after EVERY INDIVIDUAL TANNING SESSION... ensuring that you experience the cleanest beds and the most enjoyable tanning experience possible, every time!
Tanning in sunlight means the body can be subjected to uncontrolled levels of UV rays.
Depending on the time of day, month of the year, your exposure to the sun, etc... you are potentially overexposed to the suns UV rays resulting in sunburn.
A sunbed session is a controlled way to tan, giving a consistent tanning experience and avoiding burning, with benefits such as:
UV exposure is the main source of vitamin D production, which helps maintain a high immune system, builds muscle strength, helps stave off depression and low mood, while keeping energy levels high.
From October to May it is impossible to produce vitamin D from sunshine exposure in the UK as the sun is too weak, so just a few minutes on a sunbed 2-3 times a week will enable your body to produce enough vitamin D.
All our sunbeds have hybrid collagen tanning tubes (the red tubes you will see in our sunbeds) which helps to strengthen the structure of your skin, as these tubes stimulate the production of collagen and elastin which results in maintaining superior skin hydration, firmness and elasticity, while reducing the wrinkling process and skin discolouration.
People with any contra-indications to tanning, for example people on certain medications that may cause their skin to react to UV exposure should not use a sunbed or sunbath at all.
Under 18's are also forbidden by law from using sunbeds.
Should you have any concerns or questions our professional Tanning Lounge team will go through your specific circumstances before advising on your suitability to use a sunbed.
The Tanning Lounge team will advise you on an individual recommendation based on your skin type and your stage of tanning.
However as a general rule tanning 2-3 times a week is perfectly fine with a minimum of 24 hours left between any 2 sessions.
To start your tanning process it is much better to build up a base tan safely by undertaking shorter sessions more often, rather than longer sessions on an irregular basis.
With regards to what is right for you, this all depends on your individual factors. At The Tanning Lounge our experienced team will advise you on the correct session lengths and frequency, dependent on your skin type and your current stage of tan development, producing a tanning programme that is right for you.
No, under British and EU regulations, all sunbeds are required to have a maximum UV output of 0.3W/m2, which is equivalent to the midday Mediterranean summer sun.
The 0.3 standard is reached by all modern sunbeds using regulated tubes, such as the combination of hybrid tubes used at The Tanning Lounge.
Therefore 9 minutes on a Tanning Lounge sunbed is the same as 9 minutes in the Mediterranean sun but without the risk of burning.
No, all the medical and scientific evidence points to natural sunbathing and 'over-exposure' (burning) as the factor that will increase your risk of developing skin cancer.
Using a regulated sunbed responsibly, is a way to obtain a safe tan through controlled UV exposure. Indeed there are now extensive studies which show that regular responsible UV exposure can actually help prevent the most deadliest form of skin cancer, malignant melanoma.
